The Home Computer Revolution was written by Ted Nelson in 1977. Nelson is a pioneer of information technology, philosopher and sociologist. He played an important role in this revolution himself, coining the terms hypertext and hypermedia in 1963, publishing them in 1965. Nelson is the founder of Project Xanadu in 1960, with the intention of creating a computer network with a simple user interface. This effort is documented in books like this one, Computer Lib/Dream Machines and The Literary Machines. He has spent most of his life devoted to working on Xanadu and advocating for it.
Project Xanadu was the first hypertext project founded in 1960. Nelson claimed Xanadu was an improvement over the World Wide Web. While the first attempt of this implementation began in 1960, it was not until 1998 that they released a version that was incomplete. In 2014, Open Xanadu was finally made available.
